Do you work in advertising?

'West Ham's abject failure to replace Payet's creative spark...'

I think that is a bit ridiculous. Our recruitment is terrible. Our owners are a joke. That being said, Payet was one of the top 5 creative players in the world that season and probably for one year, the most incredible player I've seen in a West Ham shirt. Replacing him was next to impossible.

That just about sums it up.Best piece I've read on West Ham for a long time.

Like the OP said I guess it’s nothing new ,but anything that gets in the press is a bonus .

Hermit that's true about Payet but we didn't really put much thought into replacing him did we? We bought Snodgrass. They're so fucking dopey. No imagination whatsoever.

Re: Scathing shock attack on our beloved club!
It’s a good read, and hits nail on head, hope the owners read it and take note, or knowing them come out with a list of excuses or accuse the journo of making it up.

West Ham are a mess, if we don’t go down this year, I don’t think we wont, but only as there is a few more shit sides than us, then odds on we do next season.

Joke of a club, if you can call us a club at all, seems to have gone too far in many ways, we still follow through habit rather than pride or passion for the club, as the club has gone, all that’s left is the name.

"This is the house that the Davids built. West Ham’s owners make grand statements of good intention and hope nobody notices that precious little progress follows until the next crisis forces the cycle to repeat."

yes, nothing changes until they fuck off

That made me chuckle. It's a fair point.

Arnie was not adequately replaced either. Payet was irreplaceable as he was, for a while, probably the best (in terms of form) player in the world. However we didn't even get close.

We seem to think that replacing good players with multiple shit.plauers is the way forward.

Some people have really short memories

We didn’t replace payet with snodgrass

We replaced payet with snodgrass AND we bought Jose Fonte. Really investing in the future.

Re: Scathing shock attack on our beloved club!
Or panic buy late in the window, some relatively unknown player on the cheap compared to the tried and tested options available, think Hugill!!

When its realised we have not actually got ourselves a bargain but just spunked millions and actually paid well over the odds for a shit player who will struggle to make any kind of appearance and end up getting loaned out with us paying the wages, we still don’t learn………and do it again, think Ajeti…...

That's a lot of words saying the same old thing.

It's not WRONG per se, but appears to be written for someone who knows very little about football and what exactly is wrong with the dildos. There's better journalism in the Daily Mail, FFS.

We have no scouting system to speak of... how in hell's name can we expect to identify, watch, study and make decisions about players with nobody out there chasing it down?

Shit journalism

Re: Scathing shock attack on our beloved club!
The real issue is why we got into such a position that Payet pissed us about so much.

I didn't - and still don't - buy into the story that he was "playing away" and got caught out.

I think the real reason was because the Daves tempted him here on a promise they had no intention of following through on - viz: "To build a world class team around him".

When it became undeniably clear to him (Payet) that he WAS this "world class team" they spoke about he quite rightly got the fucking hump and wasn't prepared to "take it like a man", "one for the team" and all that.

If you want to set out a stall in Harrods or Fortnum & Masons, running it in the style of a Romford barrow-boy doesn't work.

And going back to Marseille meant he was in a world class team?

Re: Scathing shock attack on our beloved club!
Payet would have had just about his pick of any Club in Europe and he would ONLY go back to Marseille - who weren't even in Europe. That kind of fucks the idea that he left because of broken promises about signings.

blindman 2:18 Sun Jul 12
Re: Scathing shock attack on our beloved club!
I just checked in my atlas. I'm pretty sure Marseille is in Europe.
